I will keep this information confidential and take reasonable steps to protect it.

You do not generally have to provide information simply because I ask for it.

 

However, some information may be necessary to:

 

* arrange an appointment;

* contact you;

* provide a service;

* process payment;

* comply with legal obligations; or

* maintain appropriate records.

 

If you do not provide information that is necessary for a particular purpose, I may not be able to provide the relevant service or complete the requested transaction.

10. How Long I Keep Your Information

 

I will not keep personal information indefinitely.

 

I will retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account:

* tax and accounting requirements;

* insurance requirements;

* professional and business needs;

* the nature and sensitivity of the information;

* the risk of harm from inappropriate retention; and

* the need to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

 

Different types of information may therefore be retained for different periods. In line with good practice, your data is destroyed 7 years after our work has come to an end.

 

Paper records will be securely destroyed, for example by shredding.

* unauthorised destruction.

 

Paper records, where used, are kept securely under lock and key. I aim to minimise identifying information in handwritten notes where reasonably possible.

 

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.

If I become aware of a personal-data breach, I will assess the situation and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
